Unplug it, empty it, and shut off the water line to an ice maker or washer. Gas ranges, gas dryers and hard-wired furnaces should be disconnected by a licensed tradesperson first.
Bring a dolly and straps, protect the floors and door frames, and carry it out — up the basement stairs if that’s where it sits.
