A Reservoir Named for a Water Company Owner
Geist Reservoir was created in 1943 by damming Fall Creek and takes its name from Clarence H. Geist, owner of the Indianapolis Water Company. It is Indiana’s fifth-largest reservoir.
Its shoreline touches northeast Indianapolis, Fishers, Lawrence, Fortville and McCordsville, and the lakefront estates and 1990s–2000s subdivisions around it fill up the way lake houses do.
